In conjunction with a major course renovation scheme, enhancements included the recontouring of green approaches and surrounds, rebuilding of greens 8, 9 & 10 along with a host of intricate greenside retaining features to a number of streams and ditches that weave their way through the course.

We have recently been involved in one of Europe’s largest utility projects. The 1.20M diameter West-East link water main was installed through a number of Golf Courses around Northern Manchester by United Utilities and Murphy Pipelines. The enabling and reinstatement contract carried out by John Greasley Ltd, valued in excess of £1.7m was overseen by Jonathan Tucker of the STRI and programmed in tandem with the main pipeline installation. Numerous Tees, Greens and Fairways were reinstated within the easement that stretched several miles across the three courses. Extensive piped land drainage and gravel banding being installed throughout. In excess of 85,000m2 of turf was imported and laid to re-establish the areas more quickly. Our role was also extended to the growing in and maintenance on all three sites until they were ready for play. |

Reconstruction of all 18 greens to USGA criteria. Our greatest challenge was working around the existing outcrops and underlying bedrock that dominates areas of the course. Works carried out in two phases, in conjunction with a new irrigation installation.

Reconstruction of 9 greens on the La Marache course, and all 18 holes on the Bois Heros course, including reconstruction of fairway bunkers. New practice facilities also constructed as part of this extensive rebuild.

Reconstruction of all eighteen greens in conjunction with a comprehensive and very effective pumped drainage network. The reconstruction was undertaken in one phase, commencing in the Autumn and completed during the same winter period.
